In an effort to compliment government quest to boost education sector in the country, the ProChancellor and Founder Greenfield University Kasami in Kaduna State, Engineer Simon Nwakacha has attributed the establishment of the University to immense patriotism and love for the nation hence he decided to site the institution in the Northern part of the country.
The Anambra born Engineer was speaking with a team of journalists who went on a tour of the educational facility at Kasarami village.
He reiterated that the host community has been benefiting from citing of the university in the location in various ways, such as provision of potable water, employment opportunities as well as security.
He also revealed that the university is in the process of building a Police post for the safety of both students and members of the host community.
According to the Pro Chancellor, the University which is slated to start full blown academic activities soonest, has completed arrangement to start with two faculties namely Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and the faculty of Applied and Pure Sciences (science and technology).
He said that the university which can boast of international standard laboratories, hostels, with 1,000 capacity cafeteria and other state of the act facilities has been given a clean bill of approval by the National University Commission (NUC).
Engr. Nwakacha pointed out that the university apart from using cutting edge technology to impact would also focus on entrepreneurial skills building of capacity of students to enable them have practical skills to address contemporary situations for nation building.
It would be recalled that Federal Government of Nigeria approved the establishment of Greenfield University Kaduna in January this year and the school is ready to start its academic activities with 315 students with a hostel capacity of 120 students with each room housing four students.
It is imperative to note that Greenfield University is the only private university in Kaduna State.
