A Student of Arab Open University Sudan, Comrade Abdullahi Mustapha has described the recent Northern State Governors Forum emergency meeting held in Kaduna as a mere Coffee meeting and a get-together party.
Comrade Mustapha made it known in a press statement said, “with all due respect, i don’t think the so called Northern State Governors’ Forum are taking serious and necessary actions in finding lasting solutions to the problems that had been facing the Northern part of the country.”
His words, “From all indications, there are no any positive outcomes regarding the meeting which he noted has no difference with Coffee meeting or a kind of get- together party organized by the governors.”
According to him, “I expected them to deliberate on issues surrounding insecurity and finding lasting solutions to the incessant Farmer-Harder clashes, Cattle Rustling, Banditry, Kidnaping and above all the deadly attacks on communities in the Territory.”
He lamented that, but unfortunately, they spent almost 7 to 8hours discussing on irrelevant issues like the Ruga project because Federal Government made a promise to give counterpart Funds, stressing that this is very shameful.
Abudullahi further explained, “ I expected that Minister of Defence, Director of DSS, Inspector General of Police, State Commissioners of Police, Brigade Commandants/Area Commandants, State Commandants of Civil Defense, Directors of Security Personnels, State Commandants of Vigilantes Group and District Heads would be invited by the Forum to attend the emergency meeting.”
He decried that but very sad to say, non of them was invited to the meeting, so how can they managed to discussed on Critical Security Situation and finding lasting solutions without the appearances of these respective and responsible bodies.
He disclosed that, the major findings was, the Governors where not objective and comprehensive in mappings out the Root Course of the security instability in the Territory, pointing out that “I was highly disappointed and discouraged by the so called Northern Governor’s Forum, for not portraying the issue as it is in the meeting.”
Abudullahi then used this opportunity to call on the youth and the concern bodies to call on the so called Governors to arrange for another meeting with the responsible bodies.
