Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai said the tremendous achievements recorded by the Nigerian Army is traced to the immense support by the Commander in Chief and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari.
General Buratai made it known in his remarks at the closing ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff Conference 2019 on Friday December 6 at the Trade Fair Complex Kaduna.
“In the past five years we have reviewed our operations. The conference helped us to evaluate ongoing operations.
“We have achieved a lot as a result of support from the Commander in Chief and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhamadu Buhari. We should all join hands in ensuring successes records consolidated upon,” he said.
He said that the conference served as an evaluation to help them face the task ahead in 2020 and beyond.
“This is important to providing enabling environment for the socio economic development of our country.
“It is expected that with the guidance and charge of the Commander in Chief, commanders will go back and ensure stability and peace throughout the country,” he added.
Buratai said that the Nigerian Army is mindful of current security challenges in the country, hence the need to look inwards, which has yielded results with production of the EZUGWU MRAP.
“The Nigerian Army has matched its words with action with hardware on display throughout the five days of conference.
“No Army in the world has all the resources it needs, you must be prudent with available resources,” he said
The Chief of Army Staff extended appreciation to President Buhari, Governor el-Rufai and all those who made the conference successful.
” I wish to once again express my gratitude to President Buhari for his immense support to the Nigerian Army and the presence at the opening ceremony. We pledge to defend the constitution and Nigeria’s Territorial integrity.
“We also thank the Executive Governor of Kaduna State for his support to the conference and for hosting us to gala night.
“Let me thank the people of Kaduna State for hosting us throughout these five days,” he said.
He also commended senior officers and those involved with the organisation for the success of the conference.
He also appreciated those that took part in the exhibition, both from within and outside Nigeria.
