Kaduna State Government has been urged to support fish farmers in the state for growth and development and above all to create more job opportunities for teeming number of youth.
The call was made by Patron of Kaduna Fish Farmers Association, Engr. Adams Tinat, when executive members of the association led by Dr. Ejike Ude paid him a courtesy call.
Engr. Tinat, underscored the gains of fish farming to include; revenue generation, source of employment, source of protein and nutrients for families, adding that supporting the association would enhance business activities and create more opportunities for people in the state.
“Young graduates are now embracing fish farming because of the potentials they have discovered in it which calls for government support.
“Government cannot absorb everybody in its workforce, thus the need to support the informal sector such as this to grow for the benefit of citizens, especially the young school leavers so they won’t go into crime and other anti social behaviours.
“I find immense satisfaction in doing the business and engaging others so they can earn a living.
“We therefore call on the state government, cooperate organizations and concerned members of the society to partner and assist these young farmers to grow, “he appealed.
Engr. Tinat lauded the association’s relentless efforts in training and retraining individuals willing to go into fish farming, saying with government’s collaboration, the project would be capable of absorbing reasonable number of unemployed graduates in the state.
He assured execute members of the association of his continuous support.
Earlier, Chairman of the association Dr. Ejike Ude, said the union exco paid him a courtesy call considering the immense sacrifice and contribution he made in the growth of fish farming in the state.
He commended Engr. Tinat for his support and promised him that members of the association will not disappoint him in anyway.
