Kaduna State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to declare its gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Isa Ashiru as the winner of the just concluded governorship and House of Assembly election in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the state Secretariat on Monday, Chairman of the party, Felix Hassan Hyet alleged that the announced results were contrary to the available results on the field.
According to him, “I hereby call on INEC to declare Isa Ashiru of PDP as the winner of the election, using the authentic results.
” Any attempt to change the results, is amounting to denying the people the right to their choice. We appreciate the people of our dear state for their support and confidence in PDP.”
While speaking, a former lawmaker, Shehu Sani expressed disappointment in the delay by the electoral umpire in announcing the winner of the gubernatorial election.
He tasked Kaduna INEC to be just and fair, adding that a state like Kano with 44 Local Government Areas has announced its election results, while Kaduna who has just 23 local government areas is yet to be announced.
Shehu Sani further said that INEC should declare Isa Ashiru as the winner of the election, alleging that the APC has gone ahead to initiate new collation of two wards in Kudan LGA, where the PDP candidate is from.
” We are concerned about the delay, is it that INEC’s postponement is a tactics by the state government to imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in order to deny the people to the their right”, Shehu Sani asked.
