Former Chairman of Kaduna south local government area, Hon. Kabir Yakubu Jarimi has empowered about 750 women and youths on various trade of their choices to be self-reliant amounting to #11.250 million.
Hon Jarimi who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer of the local government in the forth coming local government elections coming soon said his aim is to especially keep the youths busy to take their minds off any crimes that will put them into trouble.
According to him, this is the largest empowerment program so far in the local government as they are to be engaged in small scale entrepreneurs.
He added that the figure that make up the total numbers of 750 beneficiaries of the empowerment program are drawn from the 13 wards of the local government and each of them will received N15,000 to set up their businesses.
“My aim is to boost small scale entrepreneurship, eradicate poverty and to create more job opportunities for our women and youths to be self-reliant.
“Even out of office as the council chairman I still have the interest of my people at heart, I owe them for the support they gave me during my stay as the council chairman, and together we can still do it again during the forth council elections coming soon” he stated.
The former council boss called on the beneficiaries to utilise the money for the purpose for which it was given to them.
Speaking earlier, the local government party chairman, Hon Yakubu Soso congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to make use of the kind gesture judicious.
Hon Soso, called on the good people of kaduna south to come out in their numbers to vote APC in the next local government elections.
