Alleged Corruption: Niger Delta Youth Call For Probe Of Ex – Administrator Of NDDC Effiong Akwa

Niger Delta Youth Council Of Nigeria (NDYCN) has called for forensic audit of activities of Niger Delta Develpment Commission (NDDC) under supervision of immediate past sole administrator Effiong Akwa.

President of NDYCN Ufuoma Erharhine in a press statement signed by him, decried poor performance of the commission under the supervision of Akwa whom he accused of corruption, contract scam and failure to address infrastructural needs of people in the Niger Delta in the period he held sway as head of the NDDC.

Erharhine urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to with immediate effect beam its searchlight on activities of the intervening agency with aim of unearthing corruption related cases he noted had taken place under Akwa supervision.

He lamented the inability of the Federal Government under the administration of President Buhari to appoint substantive head of NDDC, attributing the bad leadership experienced over time at the commission to lack of a responsible and duly appointed administrator.

” Failure to probe Akwa, We shall march to the Headquarters of EFCC in our numbers on November 11 pressing on our demand of ensuring Akwa is probed and prosecuted if found guilty.

” We also want to use this medium to enjoin our people in the Niger Delta to cooperate and give support to the current administrator of NDDC so he can address the infrastructure deficits in our communities.

” We recognize the effort of the minister of Niger Delta Affairs in positioning the NDDC to meet up its core mandate of service delivery to our people.

” We must as well acknowledge the achievement of Godswill Akpabio with the support of pre6sident Buhari for completing the construction of the NDDC Secretariat as a legacy.

” It is sad however to note that under the immediate past administration of Akwa, contract scams, outright embezzlement, poor execution of contracts among others infractions.

” We demand outright probe of Akwa, immediate release of the results of forensic probe conducted of the NDDC under the immediate past administration, appointment and inauguration of Governing Board Members or We mobilize our youth in protest to the office of EFCC, ” he said.
