ABG Empowers Youth, Women On Poultry, Fish , Irrigation Farming In Kaduna

In his quest to checkmate unemployment among youth in Kaduna, Former Member, House of Representatives, Shehu Bawa ABG in collaboration with Federal College of Horticulture has completed the third phase of empowerment program of 100 Kaduna youth and women on modern poultry Techniques for increased productivity.
Hon. ABG made a promise in the month of November last year that before the end of December 2019, he will train and empower 300 women and youth in different field of trade which he just completed as promised.
The 300 participants for the training programme that lasted two days each were drawn from three Senatorial Zones of the state.
He said the program was organized out of passion and commitments for the welfare of women and youth whom he said were the most vulnerable in any society, adding that neglecting such people could lead to socio-economic and political instability in the society.
Earlier in his address, training Officer from Federal College of Horticulture , Ibrahim Abdul highlighted benefits of the program to include among others ; increasing economic value of participants, creating poultry managers, maximizing yielding capacity of poultry products which he said were necessary in modern poultry production and marketing.
According to Abdul , ” trainees were taken through basic rudiments of poultry production, management and marketing procedures and practices.
” Participants were also taught ways of identifying poultry related diseases, procedures for disease control and management so that they would be thorough professionals in poultry business. ” He said.
Jummai Joseph, a participant from Kaduna South was full of excitement while expressing her delight at the opportunity she said was a chance for her to becoming a full time poultry owner.
” I will make judicious use of what I have gained here today for the benefits of my immediate family and the larger society.
” I have been idle and relied on my husband for virtually every need in the house but with this opportunity today, my husband could focus on other commitments as I would be supporting him in his responsibilities, ” Mrs Joseph said.
Hajiya Hauwa Safana, a beneficiary from Kaduna North commended the convener of the Project, Shehu ABG, saying he had been a pillar of support for the people of Kaduna and by extension, youth and women from North West Zone who she said had been beneficiaries of several empowerment, health , education and other human development initiatives of Shehu ABG.
At the end of the program, each of the 100 participants had taken home 50 chickens, a bag of poultry feeds, chicken drinking and feeding facilities and  some cash to enable them start up business of chicken rearing immediately.
