Former Federal Legislator Hon. Shehu Bawa ABG has joined prominent Nigerians in applauding the decision of Federal University Technology, Minna for conferring Honorary Doctorate Degree of Agriculture on Governor of Niger State Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago for developmental strides in agriculture.
ABG in a statement described the honour as a testimony of Bago’s effective intervention and special interest in developing agric sector of the state for food sufficiency and affordability.
He stated that the Governor’s far-reaching programmes on food security and hybrid farming method had made Niger the Nigeria’s new Agricultural hub, expressing confidence in the ability of the state to feed the nation in the nearest future.
“A golden fish indeed has no hiding place as demonstrated by our amiable Governor who has been winning accolades and honours from individual and corporate organizations in recognition of his innovative strides which have been yielding positive impacts in turning around for better the agric sector of Niger State.
“The latest among several other awards from Federal University of Technology, Minna is a pointer to His Excellency, the Farmer Governor who has brought farmers close to Government and ensuring they get all they need for food production.
“Bago met enormous security challenge, preventing farmers from accessing their farmlands, a problem posing the biggest threat to food security.
“He swung into action in collaboration with all security agencies and important stakeholders to reserve the ugly tide.
“God so kind, the efforts of the active and God-fearing Governor have yielded positive results as could be seen in unprecedented boost in agriculture across the Power State.
