Kaduna LG Polls: 23 LG Chairmen-elect receive Certificates of return

The Chairman of Kaduna State Independent Election Commission (KAD-SIECOM), Hajiya Hajara Mohammed has presented certificate of return to the newly elected Chairmen in the last Saturday local government elections in state.

Presenting the Certificates to the Chairmen-elect at the Commission’s headquarters in Kaduna, KAD-SIECOM Chairman said, the election was conducted across the State in accordance to the Kaduna State Electoral Law 2024.

According to her, this was the 6th time the Commission was conducting an election since its establishment in the year 2000, but, this was the first time that an Elected Council Members were going to hand over to an Elected Council, making today’s event a historic one.

“I feel highly delighted to be part of this remarkable occasion, a day of history. where certificate of return is being issued to those who won the just concluded 2024 Local Government Councils Election.

“Election has been contested across the State in accordance to the Kaduna State Electoral Law 2024-

“Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission is committed in conducting a periodic election, thus, this would not have been possible without the magnanimous support of the Governor of Kaduna State His Excellency Sen. Uba Sani, who believes in entrenching democracy.

“As the elected official will soon assume office to discharge their mandates, the commission on the other hand will retrieve from public activities and engrosse post-election period where plans for improved election will be set in motion,” she said.

Responding on behalf of newly elected Chairman, the chairman-elect of Soba Local Government area, Muhammad Lawal Shehu (MOLASH) noted that, as Chairmen of local government Councils, they are the closest arm of government to people at the grassroots.

He however promised that, they will implement their respective campaign manifestos to the latter and they will not let the people down.

Shehu also expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership for their support, pledging that, as local government chairmen, they will work together with the state government to complement the development strides of the Uba Sani’s government at the grassroots.
