Ruga Settlement: Oodua Youth Parliament Condemn Northern Coalition Group

As President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the policy of establishing Ruga Settlement across the country, leadership of the Oodua Youth Parliament (OYP) has condemned the northern coalition group over a statement released to the governors through it spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman.

In a statement signed and made available to Journalists, the Speaker of OYP, Hon Abdulmajeed Oladimeji Oyeniyi said the northern coalition does not want peaceful coexistence.
The speaker said, “we condemn in totality the bully attack released by one spokesman of the northern coalition group.
“AbdulAzeez Suleiman that claim to be the spokesperson of a northern coalition group addressed the state governors in Nigeria who have rejected the federal government’s Ruga settlement plan to reconsider and accept the initiative within a month.
“The statement is borne out of egocentrism and can be described as a northern agenda, this is Nigeria where we have diverse ethnic groups, we operate a unitary system where we are expected to live together as one indefatigable citizens. If someone should come out with the kind of threat statement Suleiman has issued, such person should be seen as a criminal that does not want peace”.
It urged the President of the federal republic of Nigeria to take necessary action as we don’t want anything that will disrupt the peace of the nation. RUGA settlement shouldn’t be forced on the citizens. It is on this note we call on President Buhari to caution Abdul-Azeez Suleiman and the northern coalition group that issued the threat. The President has done the best thing by suspending the RUGA settlement project, and that will sustain peace in the nation.
