In an effort to encourage those yearning for peace in the country, the World Organization of Ambassadors (WOA) in collaboration with Hand Up Development Organization, has awarded Former Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Shehu Sani, The Vice Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Kabiru Bala, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Garki Ado, of the Alqalam University, Katsina state, among many others, as ambassadors for peace.
The ceremony took place at the Arewa House, Kaduna had in attendance, men and women from different parts of the country, including an African Chancellor, world Ambassador to Argentina and also the chairman board of trustees, His Excellency, Dr. David Morondiya Aiye.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. David Morondiya noted that peace is the basic asset of humanity, noted that there can be no development anywhere in the absence of Peace.
He further expressed that the submit is aimed at selecting peace Engineers in various localities to give them recognition as a contact point to reaching Others in various communities.
“This submit is to select peace engineers in various localities that will do what they ought to do in their communities for peace to drive. We understand that our society is lacking peace and without peace, there is no way anything can thrive. We cannot have what we want if our community is not peaceful so we created this forum in other to select within the society Men and women that matters who are respected in the society to give them this recognition as a contact point to reaching Others in the society.” He said.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Shehu Sani urged the awardees to be proactive and speak truth to power without fear of anybody, noted that Nigeria is better together as one, but those in authority must ensure that justice prevail in the land.
Shehu Sani further lamented over the growing pace of insecurity in the country, noted that many young Nigerians were born into violence, born angry, and there is no way peace can be achieved on such ground, advised the awardees to be a source of inspiration to the society and their world.
“From 2000-2021, there is no child that is ignorant of killing in Nigeria. That is why the social media generation are angry insulting everybody regardless of their status in the society. They were born into violence, they were born angry. He noted.
Also, the Host, Northwest coordinator, Member, Board of Trustees, Amb. Dr. Polycap Danladi Gankon, expressed gratitude over the successful event, expressed that the program was apt and should be encouraged.
He also charged the awardees to serve as frontiers of every societal affairs, noted that all eyes are on them and for that, they must ensure that their duties are discharged responsively on daily basis.
