The Nigerian Defence Academy said on Thursday it had begun investigation into a trending video showing female cadets subjecting a man to torture.
The video, which shows a man being tortured by two female cadets for apparently referring to one of them as “beautiful,” had gone viral on social media.
The NDA, while reacting to the incident on Thursday, noted that the case was being investigated by the authorities of the nation’s prime military institution.
The NDA, through its Public Relations Officer, Capt. Musa Yahaya, said preliminary investigation had confirmed that the incident occurred somewhere in Lagos in 2014.
It said as a foremost military institution, saddled with the responsibility of producing future military leaders, would not tolerate such unruly and flagrant maltreatment of Nigerians.
The statement partly read, “The attention of The Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to a trending video showing cadets beating some persons.
“Please note that the NDA is investigating the incident. Preliminary investigation has confirmed the incident to have occurred in 2014 somewhere in Lagos while the cadets were on break.
“NDA, as a responsible institution, saddled with task of producing future military leaders, will not, in any way, tolerate such unruly and flagrant mistreatment of Nigerians.
